ABOUT ME
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina, and a National Certified Counselor (NCC), who received a Bachelors of Arts with a major in Psychology, from Columbia College in 1998. I completed my Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, Virginia, May 2018. I am also a trained Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner, former foster parent, and bio and adoptive mother of six, with over twelve years of experience in working with children affected by traumatic backgrounds.
I currently work with children teens, and adults dealing with a variety of issues.
EXPERIENCE
Over the past twelve years, I have worked with children, teens, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, attachment issues, PTSD, adjustment disorders, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral issues. I have worked with the refugee population and provided assistance with PTSD and acculturative challenges. I have also worked with adults and children who have experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect and have extensive experience with attachment and behavioral challenges.
My approach is attachment and cognitive behavioral in theory. Both of these theories are evidence-based and strongly supported by research. I utilize client-centered, and solution-focused models and implement play therapy and sand tray techniques when appropriate, as well as mindfulness skills. I also highly value a holistic mind-body-spirit approach.
I offer a 20 minute consultation at no charge as an opportunity for potential clients to meet with me and ask any questions they may have concerning the therapeutic process
